JAMES BRIODY

James Briody is a long haired, tallie drinking city skater that has been on the grind for years now. Tearing Brisbane street spots a new one daily. From the first time I met James his skills on transition stood out more then a lady boys adams apple. Let’s not forget his raw street style which Im sure comes from skating from Paddo to the City a couple of million times. Any time your in Brizzy keep a look out for James and you to will be blown away by his skating.

So what’s been happening James…..?

Sizing up

You’ve been lurking these Brisbane streets for a while now, how long have you been skating Briz…?
Yeah Brisbane is awesome, i grew up skating Skate Parks with my friend who was a lot older than me and drove me around to
most skate parks from Brisbane to the sunny coast to the gold coast. I started skating transition and vert when i first started,
I love to skate everything i can and try things differently. I’m stoked to have grown up skateboarding like this, then when i was 16 i started skating
in the city with my friends and rolling around the streets and still doing that to this day.

Tell us your favourite Paddo memory….?
Every memory of paddo is the best man. Every Friday afternoon with the homies and the tricks that go down are my best memories.

What do you think of the Brisbane skate scene compared to other states…….?
Brisbane is really chilled compared to other places. I find that certain places in certain cities I can find a rad vibe
and an amazing group of people. If I was to pick a place that I felt as comfortable as i do in Brisbane it would have to be Fitzroy Bowl in Melbourne.
That place is so rad dude, you can see the best locals there just destroy the place like nothing you can imagine and it just feels like paddo man, nice locals and a good vibe.

Nollie front crooks

I know your a hair farmer like alot skaters these day, is the long hair the secret to those boned pop shuv’s…….?
HAHAHA! man ive had my hair long since i was so young and i just love pop shuv’s they are the best feeling trick! i got really into them after seeing
Shane Cross when i was young bust the biggest front foot catch pop shuv and i just needed to get them as boss as his haha

Pop Shuv over the Jindalee hip, no one does em like Briody

Where’s your favourite spot to eat in Briz……?
I’m sooo down for Oporto’s in Queen street, cant go past that double Bondi burger! and a nice pub meal at the Paddington Pub is just to die for.

Favourite drinking hole……..?
Paddo Skatepark with the homies. No other place compares, go to the bottle-o and chill at the park for a few beers and a roll with smiles and laughs.

So whats the plan for James Briody for 2011…..?
Well I’m going to continue filming and get as much footage and photos as i can. I really like skating with a small crew, its the best way to get stuff done.
I’m shooting for an interview in the Skateboarders Journal which will take some time, but I love having my mind set of something, it makes skateboarding so amazing,
the feeling of landing that trick that you really wanted to get and the smile on your face when you roll away, the feeling is indescribable….thats what its all about.
